At Camp Yorktown Bay, we are committed to building a Christ-centered, mission-focused team that creates a safe, memorable, and spiritually enriching experience for every camper. We look for staff members who embody our values, demonstrate strong character, and are ready to serve with enthusiasm and excellence. We value the following qualities in our camp staff:

FAITH GROUNDED & SERVICE MINDED

 

We strive to hire individuals who are faith-grounded, mature in their walk with Christ, and committed to living out their beliefs with integrity and compassion. Our ideal team members are passionate about mentoring young people, modeling Christ-like character, and helping campers grow spiritually as they discover and follow Jesus.

POSITIVE ROLE MODELS

 

We strive to hire individuals who embody strong moral character, responsibility, and emotional maturity. Our staff should cultivate a supportive and uplifting atmosphere, encouraging campers and peers through their words, actions, and attitudes. They must consistently demonstrate sound judgment, prioritize camper safety, and model the kind of leadership and integrity that inspires others to grow.

We seek to hire staff who work well with others who are cooperative, humble, and genuinely pleasant to be around. They show respect to supervisors, peers, and campers, fostering an atmosphere of unity and professionalism. Team players are willing to receive direction, communicate openly, and support those around them, helping create a positive, healthy, and mission-focused team culture where everyone can thrive.

RESPONSIBLE & SAFETY FOCUS

 

We seek individuals who take responsibility seriously. Staff must be fully committed to protecting the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of every camper entrusted to them. This includes staying alert, aware, and proactive—anticipating potential risks, responding calmly under pressure, and creating an environment where campers feel secure, supported, and cared for at all times.

FLEXIBLE & ADAPTABLE

 

We need staff who can adjust smoothly when plans change, challenges arise, or schedules shift—something that happens often in a dynamic camp environment. These individuals are open to learning new skills, stepping into different roles, and supporting the team wherever they are needed most. They remain steady under pressure, maintaining a calm, solution-focused mindset that helps keep camp running smoothly and creates a positive experience for campers and fellow staff alike.
