Who We Hire

THE  CYB CULTURE

CYB has a culture of working hard. We are looking for staff who have a strong work ethic and don't mind going above and beyond what is asked of them. CYB Staff have the mentality of "work in any area I am needed". We are a team and help each other out. No job is beneath us! Here at CYB, we strongly emphasize staff needing to spend quality time with Jesus and His Word every day. Finally, our mindset is that working at camp is not just another job, but it is a ministry.

MENTORS & LEADERS

Here at CYB, we are in the business of developing godly men and women. We are in the business of developing leaders who will one day have a lasting impact on future generations. We desire those individuals who embrace mentoring and being mentored. Summer Camp provides you with tools and life experiences that willl equip you for the future. From working with all types of people, to conflict resolution, to adjusting to change, to managing your time wisely. Summer Camp will stretch you and help you grow for the future!

ENERGY, POSITIVE ATTITUDE & INVOLVEMENT

If you are someone that is very energetic, likes to get hype, and has a positive attitude, we would like to hear from you! We value people who aren't afraid to just jump in and get involved in with kids in different activities and tasks.

  • What will my job be?
It depends on what you are hired to do. If you are over the age of 18, you should plan to serve as a counselor in addition to your job as an activity instructor. If you are under the age of 18, it is most likely that you will be working in the kitchen, housekeeping, or maintenance. Witht that being said, we love flexibility in our staff members. Every CYB staff member signs a contract agreeing to work in any area he/she may be needed during the summer.
  • What is a typical day like?
Days are busy. Staff usually will wake up around 6:30 a.m. and either attend staff worship at 7am or if you are a counselor you may have your own devotional time. Line call is around 7:30am. Then staff head to breakfast with campers at 8am. We have camp council at 9:15am and then head to activities at around 10 a.m. Staff will instruct campers in their two morning activity periods before lunch is served around 1pm. There is a short rest period between 2-3p.m. During this time, counselors usually take their campers to the camp store. At 3pm, the two afternoon activity periods begin and run until about 5:45p.m. There is mail call and line call until dinner is served at 6pm. Right after dinner, staff lead campers to the daily rec activity, whether it be dodgeball, capture the flag, or another activity. at 8:15pm staff join campers at campfire bowl worship.at 9:15 p.m, staff and campers head back to their cabins to shower and sleep. Only to do it all again the next day! :)
  • What are the employment dates?
Employment dates will be from June 4th - July 16th, 2023. If you are a staff member hired to work as a lifeguard and needing to be certified, you will need to arrive to camp by May 30th, 2023.
  • When will I get paid?
Staff members will receive payment into their bank accounts every two weeks.
  • Where do I sleep?
If you are hired as a counselor, you will live in a shared cabin with campers and a co-counselor. Non-counseling female staff are housed in our lodge building. Non-counseling male staff share a cabin with other non-counseling staff. All staff will need to bring their own bedding for a twin sized bed.
  • Do I get time off?
Yes! Everyone needs time to relax and unwind. All staff get one day off per week.
  • Is there a curfew?
Yes, curfew for staff is typically 11p.m. We understand staff members want to have fun and stay up late, however, getting enough sleep is necessary for staff members to function well in their roles at camp and to be a good role model for campers.
  • How can I be in touch with family and friends?
There is no internet or cell service at CYB. Therefore the best way to communicate with family or friends is by using the office phone. We encourage staff to let others know that they can be reached by calling the CYB landline. Other opportunities to communicate include going into town on your day off and using your cell phone then.
